CC’s baking journey began at the tender age of 12. Then, with a 3D cake kit—a gift from her aunt for her cousin Annaliese’s 3rd birthday—CC discovered her passion. With support from her mother, a seasoned cake decorator, CC enthusiastically tackled her first baking project. Despite the absence of digital platforms like Pinterest for inspiration, she successfully created a cake that sparked a lifelong ambition: to one day open her own bakery.

CC’s early experiences, from savoring the joy of baking to cherishing the warm, inviting smells of bread and cookies, further sealed her fate. Working at Great Harvest Bread Co. at 16, she immersed herself in the art of baking, an experience that laid the groundwork for her future endeavors.

The road to fulfilling CC’s dream wasn’t without its twists and turns. Balancing life as a wife, mother of two, and aspiring business owner presented its challenges. The aspiration of opening a small bakery seemed daunting due to the financial and time commitments involved. Compounded by legal restrictions on selling homemade baked goods, CC’s aspirations appeared to be just out of reach.

However, the tide turned in 2015 with the passing of the Cottage Food Producer Law. This legislation was a game-changer for CC and many home bakers like her, as it legally permitted the sale of homemade baked goods. Empowered by this new opportunity, CC’s dream of running a bakery from her home transformed from a distant desire into a tangible reality.
